I will start by apologizing for the tardiness of this month’s post. The recent events surrounding the coronavirus and its impact, along with the subsequent reactions by people, government, and businesses, have surrounded us with a rapidly changing world of uncertainty.
How will we handle the adversity that has suddenly been thrust upon us all? Managing our lives through adversity gives us a clear, mirrored view of how well our goals and desires serve us and others. These times will force us to examine our present path and will offer clear clues if things need to be changed.
What can this look like for you? It may be difficult to say what exactly this will call up for you, nor will it be easy to just skim the surface of how you should react. This will be a very personalized experience for each of you – one that will most definitely make you feel uncomfortable, unsafe, yet hopefully excited all at once. In working through your thoughts and reactions, whether they are induced by cabin fever, illness, job loss, or interruption of return, it is important to remember several key points.
Let these form a foundation for the self-work you must undertake to make the appropriate change of course. They will help you emerge from the current crisis energized and ready to get to work.
- Take care of your body.
- Mind the mind.
- Embrace your spirit.
- Draw up a new routine.
- Seek to inspire and connect to a different person each day.
You may be amazed at just how impactful following these few directives will be on your overall well-being. And while the impact on your community may not be immediate, your improved attitude and outlook WILL be noticed immediately by those you live with and interact with daily. This helps you to still serve others by the inspiration that your own efforts project, and it will help you to build a keen sense of awareness of your self and the work that is to be done.
